If you don't happen to live in or near Namibia, you will most likely be flying in through Namibia's Windhoek International Airport, about 40km outside of Windhoek.

And the choices are...

• Air Namibia has flights to Windhoek from Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa, and Frankfurt through London.

• South African Airways operates flights between Johannesburg and Capetown to Windhoek as well. In addition, they operate flights between Johannesburg and Capetown to Walvis Bay, another large Namibian town.

[edit] European Airlines

They are...

• British Airways flys from Johannesburg and Capetown to Windhoek as well. Since they are a major carrier, it shouldn't be difficult to find a flight connecting to these from some major American or European cities.

• LTU International Airways, the German based airline, has flights from Munich to Windhoek.
